A German man who unsuccessfully tried to kill himself by jumping in front of a train must pay for the damage he caused. The decision was announced by a Munich court yesterday. The Scotsman newspaper says that the 47-year-old leapt too late to land under the train and crashed through the driver's cabin window.

A man and his girlfriend climbed a suspension bridge near Frankfurt so they could watch the sunset, but passers-by mistook their actions for a double suicide attempt, police said Monday. A driver called the police after he saw the couple sitting on top of the bridge, and squad cares, fire engines and a police speedboat with divers hurried to the scene.

A court in Munich has ordered a man to pay $2665 in damages for trying to kill himself after he jumped in front of a train, Reuters reported Tuesday afternoon. The court's spokesperson said the 47-year-old man who intended to land under the train missed his target and fell through the driver's side window. The man incurred wounds on his head but had no other serious injuries.

Manjula, the wife of the Taliban militia victim K. Suryanarayana, made an attempt to commit suicide and is in critical condition. She is undergoing treatment at the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology. Manjula swallowed 200ml of a cleansing agent in her bathroom. She then collapsed vomiting blood.
