A Kenyan man is convicted of attempting to commit suicide by jumping into a river. Reuters reports Stephen Nyamu Ngari, 68, admitted that he made the attempt because he was sick of his country's politics.

Japan's foreign ministry is reportedly going to ban cell phones inside the foreign minister's office and his guest room, in an attempt to avoid secret recording of his conversation. A Japanese newspaper reports that not only visitors, but also ministry employees, will be requested to leave their cell phones before entering. The foreign minister's secretary will reportedly keep the cell phones while the visitors meet with him.

The family of Jean Charles de Menezes, who was killed by police in London, will meet the Brazilian President. The Menezes family have fought to keep the memory of their son alive, after London police shot him in the subway, thinking he was a suicide bomber.

Italian officials exhumed the body of Luigi Tenco, one of the country's most beloved singers, and put to rest any doubts that he had been murdered. Tenco was found dead in his hotel room in January 1967. He had a single gunshot to his head. A note found near his body suggested that Tenco had killed himself after his song was eliminated from a music competition.
