An 81-year-old man has taken up a tough mission for his age to be able to help an aid organization for homeless people. Bill Anderson of Yuma will be bicycling around Arizona's perimeter; a 2,000-mile trek that he expects will take two weeks to cover. According to Anderson his biking tour is dedicated to raise awareness about hunger and homelessness, while collecting donations from volunteers on the way.

An elusive 6 1/2 foot former pet alligator was captured Friday and taken to the zoo. Known as "Reggie," the reptile has been hiding out at Harbor Regional Park's Lake Machado for two years, ever since its former owner discarded it when it grew too large. On Thursday, the gator came out to sun itself and officials were waiting with equipment to trap the unsuspecting beast.

Performance artist Mark McGowan is planning to cook and eat a corgi in protest against the British Royal Family. The 37-year-old will eat one of the dogs - famous for being Queen Elizabeth's favorite pets - on a live radio show next week in protest at the royals' treatment of animals. McGowan told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "I'm raising awareness at the inability of the RSPCA to prosecute Prince Philip and his friends for shooting a fox this year. It was left to fight for life for five minutes then beaten to death. "

Britain's Prince Harry's fellow soldiers have bought ginger wigs to wear in Iraq, in a comical bid to stop insurgents identifying the young royal. The prince's Blues and Royals colleagues purchased 12 ginger wigs as a joke, and Harry, 22, is said to have found the prank hilarious. According to Britain's The Sun newspaper, redheaded Harry was genuinely touched by the humorous show of support, after questions were raised about the safety-implications surrounding his deployment in the war-torn country.

A mayoral candidate in the Philippines lost the support of his mother, brother, girlfriend and other relatives for pushing the eviction of residents from land he has been claiming. Magdaleno Pena's mother, Lina Pena, and brother, Bonifacio Pena, voiced their support of Samson Mondia, who is running for mayor of Pulupandan town against Pena.
