A surfing dog in Brazil has attracted so much attention that police had to be called in to remove him and his owner because "they were drawing more attraction than the actual competition."

The dog and his owner, Caruzo Mozart Volff, surfed together on the same surfboard during the intervals of the 2006 Surf World Championship held at the Praia da Tiririca in Brazil.

The dog immediately became the main attraction at the event, drawing a huge crowd. But the attention the dog attracted did not sit well with the organizers of the event as well as the participants of the surfing competition.

A spokesperson for the police said, "We were called to remove the pair because they were drawing more attraction than the actual competition."

Volff said he has been surfing with his dog for years. He said, "He is great. Sometimes I think he is a better surfer than I am."
