A survey conducted by property firm Colliers International revealed that the City of London is the world's most expensive place to park a car, reports the Financial Times.
Colliers said that parking in Central, London's financial district, averages $1,167 monthly or $68 a day compared with New York's Midtown area, which is at $585 a month, and Tokyo at $552. After Central, the next most expensive parking is still in London in the West End area at $1,136 a month.
The list is dominated by the global financial centers, which, according to the survey, "are among the most expensive in the world."
Other cities belonging to the top ten included Amsterdam, Moscow and the Hague. Delhi is the cheapest city to park at only $1.75 a day.
Included in the list are Australian cities: Sydney, which is third at $775 monthly; Brisbane at fifth place and Perth at eighth. Colliers attributed the inclusion of Australian cities to the list as a result of the continental nation's booming economy.
It is not expensive to park in cities in Latin America, Africa and the Middle East but a trend reveals that parking costs have steadily gone up as parking becomes more structured and in demand.
