Almost half of young Brits don't know how to boil an egg.
The survey, conducted by British Egg Information Service to mark the Farmhouse Breakfast Week, revealed that only 51 percent of 18 to 24-year-olds are aware that it only takes three minutes to soft-boil an egg.
Five percent said it took 10 minutes while 15 percent absolutely had no idea. Of the 1,950 young adults who took part in the survey, only, 65 percent got the right cooking time.
A British chef, Brian Turner expressed concern on the survey result saying preparing a healthy cooked breakfast should be a basic skill.
"This survey shows just how far people have lost touch with Britain's food heritage and that many aren't capable of boiling an egg or grilling bacon or cooking sausages correctly," said Turner.
