A Vietnamese woman, who has had a history of mental health problems, has managed to stay alive after swallowing 119 rusty nails. After having complained of a stomachache, the 43-year-old woman was rushed to a local hospital only to have doctors find that she had swallowed what they thought were strange objects in her stomach.

A former Polish politician was recently caught by police while drunk driving, but escaped punishment by telling them that he had only used a vodka-based mouthwash, and did not swallow it. Grzegorz Gruszka was arrested after being pulled over by police in a routine check and failing a breath test.

A three-year-old bull terrier has survived swallowing a metal tent peg as long as his body. Disa, the puppy, was rushed to the hospital after her owner suspected her of having an upset stomach. Veternerians discovered an eleven-inch steel peg inside Disa after taking x-rays of the pup.

A three-month-old puppy miraculously survives swallowing a metal tent peg that was almost as long as its body. Disa, a Staffordshire bull terrier, was taken to a local veterinarian with what was thought to be an upset stomach. However, an x-ray later showed the problem was an eleven-inch peg. The hospital staff said, "We suspected a foreign body may be to blame but didn't expect it to be so big. We operated immediately to remove it as it could have proved fatal. "

The World Grilled Cheese Eating Championship crowned its winner Wednesday, a 100-pound woman who ate 26 grilled cheese sandwiches in 10 minutes. Sonya Thomas won $8,000 for the contest at the Planet Hollywood restaurant in Times Square, saying, "I could have done better. " She was aiming for 30 sandwiches.
