Britain's Prince Charles and his wife Camilla paid a surprise visit to a sweetshop to stock up on jelly babies during their tour of Northern Ireland on Wednesday. The prince and the Duchess of Cornwall - who are enjoying a two-day tour of the region - picked up a bag of the sugary delights and a packet of throat lozenges, much to the surprise of Ulster shopkeeper Gerald Monaghan. Gerald told the Belfast Telegraph: "I asked which sweet was his favorite and he picked 'Throat and Chest' because he said he had a sore throat.

The Berlin Zoo's polar bear cub, Knut, has risen to fame ever since his picture appeared on Vanity Fair cover with Leonardo DiCaprio. The cub, which has his own line of souvenirs now, has nearly 15,000 people come to the zoo every day. The 4-month-old polar bear has stuffed toys selling in his name at the rate of 800 a day. Not only this, the amazingly adorable cub also has T-shirts, key chains, coffee mugs and other kitsch to his name in the market.

In an attempt to make them look fresher and smell sweeter, police in India's western state of Gujarat will soon wear uniforms made from a lightweight fabric that will give off a "scent. " Creators of the uniform say they will use citrus and rose scents to help keep at least 8,000 police officers sweat-free. The new uniforms, which are expected to arrive by the end of this year, would also include specially designed "ventilation outlets" to let the sweat evaporate easily.

Twinkie - the yellow outside and creamy inside cakes can make your mouth water at their first sight, but a book "Twinkie, Deconstructed" suggests there some more that one should learn. The author of the book Steve Ettlinger says he was taken to multiple locations, including phosphate mines in Idaho to gypsum mines in Oklahoma, as he searched for the origins of ingredients of the Hostess Twinkie. Ettlinger found that one of the Twinkie's ingredients is Calcium Sulphate, a substance that could transform into plaster if water is extracted out from it.
