A Buffalo, N. Y. , man has been reunited with his 1958 Sloan High School class ring that had been on the bottom of Lake Erie for 47 years. Ron Witkowski lost his 1958 Sloan High School ring in an embarrassing fashion. Witkowski -- then 17 -- and a buddy were swimming at Sherkston-Elco Beach in Ontario when his friend lost his contact lenses. A week later, the two teens decided to drop Witkowski's ring in the water in the same spot to track where the current might have carried the lenses. They never found the ring or the lenses.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai inaugurates capital's first five-star hotel. The Kabul Serena Hotel cost $36. 5 million and was developed by the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development. The 177-room, three-storey hotel is near Karzai's presidential palace in the heart of the capital, Kabul.

Researchers discover trails of a mysterious, two-legged swimming dinosaur with bird-like characteristics in northern Wyoming. They are now searching for bones and other remains to identify and name the primitive creature.

An almost 40-year mystery is solved Friday when authorities rule that an Australian prime minister who disappeared Dec. 17, 1967 had drowned and was not assassinated or taken by a Chinese submarine. Harold Holt disappeared while swimming in the ocean in the southern state of Victoria after serving almost two years as prime minister.
