A man broke into his ex-girlfriend's apartment carrying a three-foot sword on Thursday to attack but got the shock of his life when he became the victim himself.

Her girlfriend's roommate turned out to be a sword collector herself. She grabbed Elvis Javier Polanco's sword and defended the attack. Polanco got cut in the arm during the attack.

Captain Toby McSwain says the 18-year-old went to the woman's home with a friend after they had been drinking by breaking the window. He also used his friend's shoulders to get inside.

Polanco has been charged with burglary and aggravated assault. He was released from hospital following a treatment. Police charged Polanco with burglary and aggravated assault.
