King Mswati III Of Swaziland Ignites Outrage By Sending Wives On Globe-Trotting Shopping Spree

Swaziland's King Mswati III has sparked outrage by sending his favorite wives on a globe-trotting shopping spree. The monarch - ruler of some of the poorest people in the world - used £4 million [$7 million] of state money to send at least five of his 13 wives and dozens of their aides to France, Italy, Dubai and Taiwan on a secret trip last week.

Although it is a criminal offense to criticize the king's private life in Swaziland, campaigners have blasted the British government, who give the landlocked African country the majority of the £65 million it receives in European aid each year.

A Russian woman upset with not having been granted French citizenship threw a coffee mug at the Mona Lisa a little over a week ago, but the masterpiece, dubbed the most famous painting in the world, was undamaged, the Louvre museum said on Tuesday.

According to the Guardian, the woman brought an empty mug into the museum on Aug. 2 and threw this at the painting. Enclosed in bullet-proof glass, the Mona Lisa was untouched.

Kate Moss ruined her best friend's hen party by fighting with strippers. The supermodel was livid when two hunks dressed as policemen joined the party she was throwing for former Storm model agency booker Jess Hallett - and insisted they left the bash.

A source told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "The 'policemen' joined in the party, dancing around, drinking and stripping, sending their helmets flying. But when Kate saw them she lost her temper and was telling everyone the party was over."

Catherine Zeta-Jones was paid a staggering $5,700 a second to star in a shampoo commercial. The Oscar-winning actress earned $2.5 million for the seven-minute TV advertisement for haircare product Lux, which will only be broadcast in China and Japan.

An executive at Unilever, the firm behind the commercial, told Britain's The Sunday Times newspaper: "We wanted Catherine as we remember her in 'Entrapment, all slinky and mysterious."
