Moorcroft, WY. (AP) - A worker is shocked by 2,000 volts of electricity for about 30 seconds and survives without major injury.

Car Thief Outsmarts Police Officers

A car thief in a residential district of Sofia ran into a roadside electricity pole in the midst of a car chase with local officials. When the police officers stepped out of their car to arrest the man, he took their vehicle at gunpoint.

Police said officers opened fire at the fleeing suspect and believe he might have been wounded.

Hurricanes Aid Population Growth

Some doctors are attributing a recent baby boom in Florida to the three hurricanes that hit the Sunshine State last summer.

One health official says there are more than twice the number of parents-to-be in her birthing class and another says she has 51 expectant mothers due this month and 43 more due in June, up from an average of about 30 per month.
