A school in London is trying to teach student more than the 3 R's -- it has banned children from raising their hands in class and teachers from calling on students with their hands raised.

The principal, Andrew Buck, said it is always the same children who wave their arms in the air, while the rest of the class sits back. When teachers try to involve less-adventurous pupils by choosing them instead, that leads to feelings of victimization, the Daily Telegraph reported Saturday.

A Florida dad punched a teacher's assistant in front of a class full of students after his daughter accused the aide of touching her inappropriately.

On behalf of an unmarried, pregnant teacher, the New York Civil Liberties Union has filed a federal discrimination complaint against a Catholic school. The NYCLU contends the school unlawfully fired the teacher because of her pregnancy situation.

"I don't understand how a religion that prides itself on forgiving and on valuing life could terminate me because I'm pregnant and choosing to have this baby," Michelle McCusker said Monday at a news conference announcing the suit.
