Wal-Mart In A "Happy Holiday" Pickle

Controversy surrounds a company e-mail sent out by Wal-Mart officials suggesting its employees say "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas."

While the major retail giant has released a statement saying they meant no disrespect, the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights is calling for a customer boycott until a formal apology is made.

Americans Misinformed About Avian Flu

Nearly half of Americans questioned in a new opinion poll mistakenly believe they can contract bird flu by eating chicken. Forty-seven percent of respondents including nearly half of college graduates agreed with the false statement that eating an infected chicken can result in bird-flu transmission.

The survey sampled 1,007 Americans and was commissioned by the nonprofit Center for Consumer Freedom (CCF) and conducted by Opinion Research Corporation.

Abercrombie And Fitch Pulling Controversial T-Shirts

Retailer Abercrombie & Fitch will stop selling some of its T-shirts after a national boycott by teenage girls who objected to slogans on the apparel such as "Who needs brains when you have these?".

The teen-oriented company, often criticized for its suggestive advertising featuring scantily-clad young models, did not specify which T-shirts it would pull.

SBA Administrator Hector V. Barreto says, "The SBA will not tolerate the defrauding of those who have already lost so much in the aftermath of these devastating storms. Those who are found taking advantage of the disadvantaged will be prosecuted to the fullest extent that the law provides."
