Ontario Considers Betting Ban Among Lottery Retailers, Family
Suspicions of insider fraud in lottery winnings may result in a ban on betting among retailers, employees and relatives of those who work in lottery-related jobs. The suspicion was aroused after an audit on the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation showed that in the past 13 years OLG staff and their families won $198 million. The astronomical figure is double the amount originally projected by the gaming board, according to Andre Marin of Deloitte & Touche.

A 78-year-old widow won a $10M Connecticut Lottery with the tickets bought by his late husband on the day he died. Donald Peters bought two Connecticut Lottery tickets which he bought in a 7-Eleven outlet store on November 1, before he suffered from heart attack while in his yard working.
New York City Doorman Fired After Winning Lottery
Richie Randazzo, the New York City doorman who won $5 million in the state lottery, was fired by his employer despite his insistence that he wanted to keep his job. Randazzo's employer, Brown Harris Stevens, which manages an exclusive Park Avenue apartment building in New York, showed him the door. The company did not provide details in the firing.
Lottery Winner Waits Nearly A Year To Claim His Millions
A $3.6 million lottery winner waited nearly a year to claim his prize, keeping it a secret from everyone but his mother. Peter Dushop, 24, told reporters he put the winning ticket in a safety deposit box upon realizing he won the prize because he wanted time to think about how the money could change his life and about what would be the best way to handle the large sum of money.
Toronto Janitor Wins $7.4 Million Top Prize In Lotto Draw
A janitor at the Ottawa-Carlton District School board won the top prize in the July 16 Lotto 6/49. Kevin Frost, 39, picked up his $7.379 million check Thursday. Being persistent finally paid off for Frost, who has been betting on the lottery since he was 18. Frost said he plans use his winnings to pay his mortgage, buy a house and travel to Scotland to play golf.
