Russell Crowe serenaded staff at a Welsh pub before leaving them a $990 tip. The 45-year-old actor - who is in Wales filming his latest movie "Robin Hood" - surprised locals when he took nine friends for a meal at the Carew Inn, near Tenby, last week. The party ate mussels and a Jamie Oliver-inspired chicken dish before belting out Bryan Adams' "Summer of '69" and Peter, Paul and Mary's "Leaving On A Jet Plane."
Prince Charles Fancies Dreadlocks
Britain's Prince Charles is a fan of dreadlocks. The prince praised builder Lance Deem's matted hair style during a visit to a firm which makes environmentally-friendly building materials near Brecon, Powys, as part of his annual tour of Wales. Lance - who joked his job of mixing lime-based products had resulted in his dreadlocks - said the prince chatted to him about his hair.
Princess Diana's School Eraser Up For Auction
A rubber (eraser) belonging to Britain's late Princess Diana is up for auction. The eraser - which measures five inches by two inches and is stamped with the words "For BIG mistakes" - was used by the Princess of Wales when she was a nine-year-old schoolgirl at Riddlesworth Hall boarding school in Diss, Norfolk. The royal personalized the item with the words "D. Spencer," "Diana," "Riddlesworth Hall" and "Diss" and the phrase "Bomb Beware Help" in her own handwriting.
Hairspray Bacteria, No-Buzz Coffee Bean Among Top New Species
A bacteria that lives in hairspray and a coffee bean without caffeine are among the top 10 new species revealed Friday by researchers at Arizona State University. The plants, bugs and other creatures are among the 18,516 species discovered in 2007 and reported in the "Status of Observed Species."
Prince Charles Trying To Save A Pub In Wales
Britain's Prince Charles is trying to save village pubs in Wales. The 60-year-old royal is supporting the Pub Is The Hub scheme, a project that encourages small pubs to open their doors to the community. The scheme will be trialed in Denbighshire, North Wales, where suitable pubs will host everything from local post offices and shops to crĨches, arts and craft centers and religious study groups.
