Thousands Of 'Superheroes' Arrive At Comic Convention In San Diego
Thousands of "superheroes" have gathered for the four-day Comic-Con International being held at the San Diego Convention Center. Comic-Con is the nation's largest celebration of comic books and pop culture. The convention, which started Thursday, attracted Storm Troopers, Flash Gordon, Batmen, Spider-Men and even characters from toy makers. One photographer was seen wearing a Wonder Woman costume.
Student Prohibited From Attending Prom
A prom is supposed to be a special night for high school students. One student didn't get to experience the fun because he showed up in a dress. Kevin Logan went to the West Side High School prom in Gary, Indiana, on Friday in a slinky fuchsia gown and heels.
High School Seniors Give Up Excess To Have Prom
Two high schools will once again have a senior prom...without the excess. Instead of the extravagance that used to exist, that included limos and weekend house rentals in the Hamptons, the students have suggested taking buses to a Manhattan pier for a dinner cruise, for a total cost of about $100 per student.
High School Senior In Trouble Over Wearing Kilt To Dance
Nathan Warmack wanted to honor his Scottish heritage by wearing a Scottish kilt to his high school dance. His Principal had other ideas and told him to put on a pair of pants.The formal clothing has sparked an international debate about freedom, symbols and cultural dress. More than 1,600 people have signed an Internet petition seeking an apology for the high school senior.Scots in the United States are assembling a traditional ensemble they hope the student will wear to the prom, and his family is trying to change the school's dress-code policy. Warmack, a defensive lineman on the football team, says, "It's a kilt. It's going to turn heads, but I never believed it would have become what it is."
