Michigan Robber Tried To Hitch Ride With Cop

After allegedly trying to rob a bank, a man was arrested while trying to bum a ride from an undercover officer.

Police said Mark White, 50, flagged down an undercover detective about three blocks from the Citizen's Bank location he'd allegedly tried to rob just minutes before, the Saginaw News reported.

Ruth Madoff, 68, left the duplex at the Upper East Side mansion at noon, a spokesman for the U.S. Marshall's office of the Southern District of New York said, according to ABC News.

Johnny Depp was visited by the spirit of a gangster on his new movie. The Hollywood star portrays John Dillinger in "Public Enemies" and insists the notorious bank robber was watching over him while he was filming scenes.

He told BANG Showbiz: "It was magical to be able to literally walk in the same steps that he took. You could almost feel him. I did feel him, not to be spooky or anything, but there were moments when I felt his presence. There were moments when I felt a certain level of approval from the guy."

Johnny Depp is "fascinated" by gangsters. The Hollywood hunk, who plays notorious bank robber John Dillinger in his new movie "Public Enemies," was drawn to the role because of his interest in the charismatic 1930s American thief.

Speaking at the U.K. premiere of "Public Enemies" in London's Leicester Square Monday night, Johnny said: "I had a sort of fascination, not so much that he was a criminal, that this guy took up arms against the establishment and he did it with a smile. There was a sort of twinkle in his eye which I find interesting. And the hat he wears, I did it for the hat."

A Florida man suspected of robbing a bank was arrested after several witnesses reported seeing a drunken man covered in red dye.

Pinellas County sheriff's detectives think a homeless 53-year-old man, Michael Prance, robbed Seminole's RBC Bank Thursday, escaping with the bank's cash, the St. Petersburg Times reported.
