Australian Sets New World Records For Longest Motorcycle Jump

Australian Robbie Maddison broke Monday night the world record for the longest motorcycle jump at an exhibition at the Rio All-Suite Casino and Hotel.

Maddison leapt 322 feet, 7˝ inches (98.34 meters), easily breaking the Guinness World Records of 277 feet and 6 inches (84.58 meters) set by Trigger Gumm in 2005 in Australia. It also beat Ryan Capes's non-certified mark of 310 feet and 4 inches (94.59 meters). Capes, a native of Kent, Washington, set the unofficial record also in 2005.

Egypt Seeks Royalties For Exact Copies Of Pyramids

Egypt's parliament is set to pass a law that requires payment of royalties for exact replicas of its ancient pyramids in every country.

The proposed law announced by Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) on Tuesday also prohibits the duplication of the Egyptian monuments, including the Sphinx. Drawings and other reproductions of pharaonic and Egyptian monuments from all eras are exempted from the law if they are not exact copies.

Macau Billionaire Stanley Ho Bids $330,000 For a Giant Truffle

acau casino mogul and billionaire Stanley Ho bid a staggering $330,000 for a giant white truffle at auction Saturday, beating the offers of U.K.-based artist Damien Hirst and Sheik Mansoor Bin Zayed al Nahyan of Abu Dhabi.

The truffle, weighing 1.5 kilograms, is now considered the world's biggest besting the 1.29-kg truffle found in Croatia in 1999, which holds the Guinness World Record.

Romanian Goes On Hunger Strike Over Roulette

Banned from his local casino for allegedly swearing and shouting too loud, a Romanian went on hunger strike for three days in protest.

Ioan Seutiut, 49, sat down on a chair in front of the casino in Deva, Hunedoara county, with a note reading: "Roulette hunger strike," saying he will not eat or accept medical attention until he is allowed to play roulette in the casino again.

Chicago City Colleges Will Soon Train Students For Casino Jobs

Chicago City Colleges will train students for jobs in the casino industry if the plan to introduce casinos in the state gets approved.

Chancellor Wayne Watson made the announcement after Alderman Tom Tunney (44th), owner of Ann Sather's Restaurants, suggested offering casino training if the casino plan gets Legislative approval.
