An energy crew drilling on the island of Hawaii has discovered magma, the molten rock material that has never been found in its natural habitat. Scientist Bruce Marsh, with Johns Hopkins University, said magma is the central ingredient in the evolution of planets and the "lifeblood" of all volcanoes. The discovery of magma in Hawaii gives scientists an unprecedented opportunity to understand the substance, Marsh said.
Sixteen Hammerhead Shark Pups Perish In Illegal Net In Hawaii
The bodies of more than a dozen hammerhead sharks were recovered from an illegal gill net in Kane'ohe Bay, a mating area for hammerheads near the Waikalua Fish Pond. All the sharks were pups and they were found by a Nature Conservancy team on patrol in the area on Thursday.
Two Men Sail Across Pacific In Raft Made Of Water Bottles
Two men have successfully sailed from California to Hawaii in a raft made of plastic bottles and Cessna airplane parts. Dr. Marcus Eriksen and Joel Paschal built their raft, which they named "Junk," out of 15,000 plastic bottles and a Cessna 310 fuselage. The purpose of their journey was to bring attention to the massive amount of plastic floating at sea.

"Barack Obama is about to make one of the most important decisions of this campaign -- choosing a running mate," Obama campaign manager David Plouffe said in an email to supporters on Sunday. "You have helped build this movement from the bottom up, and Barack wants you to be the first to know his choice."
