Last Titanic Survivor Dies At 97
Millvina Dean, the last survivor of the Titanic, died on Sunday at 97 at a nursing home in England. Dean was only two months old when the Titanic collided with an iceberg on its maiden voyage and sank on April 14, 1912. The ocean liner was at the time the largest passenger ship in the world.
California Bay Area Murder-Suicide Kills Six, Including Three Children
Three children and three adults were shot dead while a woman was seriously injured in what police believe was a murder-suicide inside a Santa Clara, California home Sunday night. The suspected gunman in his 40s was among the dead found at a home in the upscale Rivermark community, Santa Clara police Lt. Phil Cooke told SFGate.com. A seventh shooting victim remains in critical condition at a local hospital, according to Cooke.
Japanese Elderly Certified As Survivor Of 2 Atomic Bombings
The Japanese government has certified a 93-year-old man as having survived both atomic bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the end of World War II in 1945. Nagasaki city officials on Tuesday said Tsutomu Yamaguchi was in Hiroshima on a business trip on Aug. 6, 1945, when a U.S. B-29 dropped an atomic bomb on the city. He suffered serious burns in his body but survived and was able to return to his hometown in Nagasaki on Aug. 9, 1945, when the second atomic bomb was dropped.

'Pirate Ship' Destroyed By Indian Navy Actually A Thai Trawler, Owner Claims
A Thai claimed Tuesday it was his trawler that was mistakenly identified as a pirate mother vessel and destroyed by an Indian warship off Somalia's coast last week. Fourteen sailors of the Ekawat Nava 5 remain missing after the Indian frigate INS Tabar fired at the ship that had just been boarded by Somali pirates, according to Wicharn Sirichaiekawat, owner of the trawler.
