Nurse Sues County Over Bumper Sticker Ticket
A Georgia nurse filed a lawsuit against DeKalb County Monday after being ticketed for an obscene bumper sticker against President George Bush. The suit was filed in conjunction with the American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia. The sticker read, "I'm Tired Of All The BUSH**." While the county used to have a law against profane bumper stickers, the law was ruled unconstitutional in 1990.
Revengeful Woman Hits McDonald's Patrons With Car
An angry McDonald's customer ran her car over two other customers following a dispute over who was next in line. Police are looking for the woman who is still at large. Melinda Ann Thomas, 34, and Linda Ann Thomas, 51, were standing in a crowded line at McDonald's early Saturday morning as they waited to order breakfast, police told Athens Banner-Herald.
Prisoners Use Helicopter To Escape
Two prisoners make a daring escape from an Athens jail using a helicopter. According to the BBC, a Greek and an Albanian national escaped in the copter that landed on the roof of the Korydallos prison.
Wife Attacks Husband With Bug Spray
An Athens woman allegedly attacked her husband and his mistress with bug spray after she found them together, a report said Tuesday. According to the Associated Press, police said a "nosy neighbor" called the woman at work on Friday and said her husband was at their apartment having an affair with another woman.
Chiropractor Claims To Travel Through Time
A chiropractor who claims he can treat anyone by reaching back in time to when an injury occurred has attracted the attention of state regulators. The Ohio State Chiropractic Board, in a notice of hearing, has accused James Burda of Athens of being "unable to practice chiropractic according to acceptable and prevailing standards of care due to mental illness, specifically, Delusional Disorder, Grandiose Type."
