An Indianapolis hospital threw a makeshift prom for a teen patient whose illness prevented her from attending her school's dance. Hospital staff and Community Health Network Foundation members transformed Community Hospital North's atrium into a restaurant Saturday night for a pre-prom dinner for high school senior Leah Westrick, the Indianapolis Star reported.
Man Sent To Jail As Teen Exonerated 16 Years Later, Released From Prison
A Cook County judge has exonerated a Chicago man convicted for murder and imprisoned in 1994, when he was 13, after the real killer has been identified. Cook County Criminal Court Judge Joseph Claps' decision on Friday set Thaddeus Jimenez, now 30, free after spending 16 of his 50-year sentence for the shooting dead of Eric Morro, 19, on Feb. 13, 1993.
Florida Teen Finds Rocks In Nintendo DS Box
A confused teen opened a birthday present from his mom, only to find the Nintendo DS box stuffed with rocks and Chinese newspapers. Tampa mom Jodi Wykle played a little birthday prank on her son, giving him the Guitar Hero game for Nintendo DS, even though he didn't have a DS yet. Next, she gave him another box, this one with a Nintendo DS in it-or so she thought.
Ohio Teen's Fishing Outing Ends With An Alligator
A 14-year-old Akron, Ohio boy caught an alligator while fishing in Summit Lake on Sunday. Anthony Greer had hopes of luring a few bass while fishing, but the teen ended up with a more than four-foot alligator. The eighth-grader said the gator came out of the water and then lunged at him, the Akron Beacon Journal reported.
Vermont Lawmakers Consider Legalizing Teen "Sexting"
After tackling same-sex marriage, lawmakers in Vermont are considering a bill that would make it legal for teenagers 18 and under to exchange explicit photos and videos of themselves, a practice also known as "sexting." Under the current law, teenagers could be prosecuted as sex offenders if they get caught sending graphic sexual images of themselves, even if it is consensual. But, according to one recent study, 18 percent of female students say they've tried sexting.
