Prom Canceled Due To Student's Extravagance
The principal of a Roman Catholic high school on Long Island, New York, has canceled the spring prom. Brother Kenneth Hoagland said in a 2,000-word letter to parents that the "flaunting of affluence" and the "exaggerated expenses" led to his decision.

Hoagland, who claims in the letter to be fed up with what he called the "bacchanalian aspects."
High School Students' Prom Outfits Win Them Scholarships
Krystal Long and Casey Isringhouse have won college scholarships, thanks to their ingenious prom outfits, made completely out of duct tape. The 18-year-olds won a national contest for designing and creating their outfits, which they based on the Pablo Picasso painting, "Girl Before a Mirror."
Senior Suspended and Fined for Wearing Prom Dress
A high school senior is regreting his decision to wear a prom dress to his prom after being cited $249 for disorderly conduct, suspended for three days, and benched for his last track meet. According to a police report is was more then the dress that landed the 18-year-old into trouble. School district administrator Jim Gottinger claims senior Kerry Lofy was dancing provocatively in a sexual manner while donning the dress.
