The Ease Of Purchasing Drugs In Vancouver Highlighted When Man Dressed As Beaver Buys Heroin
In an effort to highlight the ease in which drugs are available on Vancouver's Downtown Eastside streets, radio station DJs played a prank, sending someone out to buy find and buy heroin, all while wearing a beaver costume--and it didn't take the DJ long to find it. On June 4, CFOX-FM sent a DJ that goes by the on-air name, Captain Scotty, to a street that is notorious for drug deals. Dressed as a beaver and carrying a sign that said he was looking to buy heroin, the DJ was reportedly able to purchase the drugs in a matter of minutes.
Man Stabbed To Death In Dispute Over Trade Of Crack-Cocaine For Steaks.
A man was fatally stabbed Thursday night after an altercation arose in a drug deal in which crack-cocaine was traded for steaks. Brothers Gerald and William Gillespie reportedly showed up at their drug dealers house hours after the deal was made. They thought they'd been short changed in the deal, and wanted more crack, or money, or some of the $117 worth of steaks back.
Commuters In Distress, Interstae 95 Closed For 2 Days For Emergency Repairs
The closure of Interstate 95 for two days caused huge traffic congestion for a two mile stretch. The north east corridor was ordered to close down for emergency repairs. The closure affected both the northbound and the southbound lanes of the highway north of the city's central business district. Gene Blaum, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation spokesman told the Associated Press, "Obviously we feel it could compromise the strength of that section of the highway.The section of the interstate carries about 190.000 vehicles a day, making the repair a major undertaking"
Couple Find $12,000 In Apartment Refrigerator
A couple that recently moved in to an apartment were in for a surprise upon discovering about $12,000 in cash inside the refrigerator. Colleen Mesler, 65, said that she found the bills in the freezer, when her husband Jim asked her to throw the tray out. The cash was seen deteriorating and covered with mold, and wrapped in tin foil.
