Manager Of 3M Plant In France Held Hostage, Freed By Workers Facing Layoff
About 150 striking workers of a 3M plant in France released their manager Thursday after holding him hostage for more than 24 hours to demand better separation pay. Luc Rousselet, the director of 3M's French operations, was allowed to walk off his office at the Pithiviers plant, south of Paris amid boos from workers.
Indian Firm To Begin Selling World's Cheapest Car
Indian carmaker Tata Motors Ltd. (TML) on Monday announced it will start selling the world's cheapest car called Nano next month in India. The basic Nano model will sell for a pre-tax price of $1,979 or 100,000 rupees or $2,200 after tax and dealer cost. It is 10 feet long, has four doors, can seat five people and is powered by a 33 brake horsepower and 624 cc rear engine. The small car has no airbags, air conditioning, radio, or power steering but meets India's road safety standards, TML officials said.
Mingo County W.VA Drug Raid Yields 47 Arrests, Numerous Drugs
A half-foot of snow on the ground meant it was difficult to drive or fly and may have helped ensure that 47 of the 60 suspects were home that law enforcement officials were looking for in a Mingo County, W.VA drug raid, state police said. Authorities say that during the two-day raid they also seized 137 Alprazolam tablets, 264 Oxycodone tablets, 336 Hydrocodone tablets, 38 MDMA (Ecstacy) tablets, 125 Diazepam tablets, 1.5 grams of crack cocaine, 73.3 grams of cocaine, 1,019 Marijuana Plants, $13,208.00 in cash and three vehicles.
