Man Says He Saw A Lion, Biologists Claim It Was A Cat
Biologists say the man who says he spotted a mountain lion near his home, might have actually seen a large house cat. However, DuWayne Hendrickson does not accept the explanation and sticks to his statement. Hendrickson says he spotted a mountain lion in south of U.S. Highway 2. "I saw it myself for 30 seconds from about 100 feet away. I've been around animals all my life. I'm not an idiot," he added.
Aggressive, Biting Sea Lion Chases Swimmers From San Francisco Lagoon
Swimmers have had to stay out of the water in a San Francisco, California park after a cranky sea lion bit 14 people and chased 10 others out of his lagoon. California sea lions are known for their intelligence, playfulness and loud barking, according to the Marine Mammal Center Web site.
Tiger Mauls Woman At Dublin Zoo
A young woman is recovering from surgery after being mauled by a tiger at Dublin Zoo. The woman scaled several safety barriers on Tuesday afternoon in an attempt to reach three Siberian tigers in their compound. "She pushed her hand through and the tiger reacted as any tiger would and bit her," a zoo spokeswoman said. After receiving first aid, the woman was rushed to hospital by ambulance and underwent emergency surgery on her arm.
Zoo Lion Kills Man Who Invokes God
A man who entered the lions' enclosures in a Kiev Zoo shouting and questioning the existence of God was mauled to death by a lioness. "The man shouted 'God will save me, if he exists', lowered himself by a rope into the enclosure, took his shoes off and went up to the lions," the official said.
Ordinance Could Strip Appalachian Family Of Pet Lion
A Floyd County ordinance in Kentucky could strip an Appalachian family of its pet lion by Friday. The Collins family owns a more than 400 pound lion which the family considers "kitty." To some neighbors of this family, the animal is a source of menace.
