Key Lime May Soon Be Florida's Official State Pie

Florida may soon have an official state pie - Key Lime. The proposal to make key lime pie the official state pie has passed the House Tourism Committee.

But lawmakers from other areas of the state think otherwise. Some legislators in the northern part of the state argued that pecan pie should be the official state pie, while some in the central part of the state pushed for strawberry pie.

Drive-Thru Antics Lead to Lock-Up

Two women get their just desserts after stopping at a drive-thru for an apple pie. The manager of a McDonald's restaurant called police Tuesday after the women, whom employees say were acting strangely as they ordered the pies at a drive-through, struck the side of the building with their pickup.When officers arrived, they found Heather Amber Anderson, 24, inside the restaurant and behind the counter trying to open a cash register. Police tell the Associated Press that Anderson used to work for that McDonald's before being fired two weeks ago.Investigators said Anderson was unsteady on her feet and her speech was slurred. He charged her with public intoxication and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.Outside, the driver of the pickup, 41-year-old Neeica Jean Mull, also appeared intoxicated and told police she had taken prescription medication. She was charged with driving under the influence.

PETA Creams Vogue Editor

French anti-fur activists struck a Vogue editor in the face with a cream pie. Anna Wintour, editor of the U.S. edition of Vogue, was attacked for her support of the use of animal fur by the fashion industry.

Wintour was hit in the face with a tofu cream pie as she left the Chloe fashion ready-to-wear show at the Tuileries Gardens in central Paris. It was the second such attack this year on on the Vogue Editrix, who is an unapologetic fur supporter according to animal rights groups and even has the nickname "pelt pusher".

A man who was fired after eating two slices of leftover pizza after a company meeting has won a contest held by Silicon Valley judges assembled by Simply Hired.

The man, Jim Garrison, won the contest beating out over 1,200 entries of strange and odd firings that ran as stories on the Internet over the last year.
