Now Electric Shock For Internet Addicts In China
In a treatment that equates Internet addicts to mentally ill people, China is giving electric shocks to people who spend more time on the Internet than required. The Chinese government has launched a nationwide campaign to treat "Internet addiction" and many Internet-addiction clinics have been opened in this regard. A recent survey found that nearly 14 percent of teens in China are vulnerable to becoming addicted to the Internet. The Communist Youth League calls it a "a grave social problem" that threatens the youth of this Asian country.
World's Largest And Smelliest Flower Pulls Crowd At Royal Australian Gardens
Titan arum, the world's largest and smelliest flower on Thursday attracted crowds at Sydney's Royal Botanic gardens. Its biological name, Amorphophallus titanum, means very large, deformed, penis. The flower, which can grow up to three meters in height, has a pale yellow wrinkled center and smells like rotten fish. A crowd of people, however, have lined up at the Royal Gardens on Thursday to get a scent of the flower during an exhibition.
Missing Naval Aviator From War In Vietnam Is Identified
The U.S. Department of Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office (DPMO) has identified the remains of a U.S. serviceman, who has been missing in action (MIA) since the Vietnam War. Lt. Cmdr. James E. Plowman, U.S. Navy, of Pebble Beach, California was returned to his family for burial with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery near Washington D.C.
So-Called "Electric Man" Electrocuted In Vietnam
Hanoi, Vietnam (AHN)-In an ironic twist of fate, officials say a Vietnamese man who once appeared on national television to demonstrate his ability to resist electric shocks has been electrocuted while repairing a generator. Nguyen Van Hung, who was in his early 40s, was killed in Tay Ninh province near the Cambodian border while repairing the generator without first cutting the power supply, with a local official telling Reuters, "When alive, he used to demonstrate at our office how he would insert two fingers into the electrical plughole without problems."
Airman MIA Since Vietnam Comes Home To Rest In Peace
The U.S. Department of Defense says it has identified an airman who has been missing in action (MIA) since the Vietnam War. Air Force Maj. Burke H. Morgan, U.S. Air Force, of Manitou Springs, Colo., was buried Sept. 7 beside his wife, Mary, at the U.S. Air Force Academy, as part of his U.S. Air Force Academy graduating class' 45th reunion.
