Impostor Makes Calls To Charities Posing As David Beckham

Police are searching for a telephone prankster who is calling up child welfare officials claiming to be soccer star David Beckham and offering to work with under-privileged children. The pseudo Beckham has also promised to take the youngsters to watch the 32-year-old former England captain's new team, the LA Galaxy.

After receiving more than a dozen calls, the excited LA County and Sheriff's Department offices contacted Beckham's representatives, who found out that the soccer star did not make the calls.

World's Largest Carpet From Iran As Big As Soccer Field

Iran has woven the world's largest carpet which is the size of a soccer field, the AFP reported on Tuesday.

The AFP reported that the wool carpet measures 5,626 square meters (60,546 square feet). The United Arab Emirates ordered it for $5.8 million to be used in a mosque in its capital Abu Dhabi named after UAE founder and president Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahayan.

Prince Charles And Wife Stock Up On Sugary Delights During Northern Ireland Tour

Britain's Prince Charles and his wife Camilla paid a surprise visit to a sweetshop to stock up on jelly babies during their tour of Northern Ireland on Wednesday. The prince and the Duchess of Cornwall - who are enjoying a two-day tour of the region - picked up a bag of the sugary delights and a packet of throat lozenges, much to the surprise of Ulster shopkeeper Gerald Monaghan.

Gerald told the Belfast Telegraph: "I asked which sweet was his favorite and he picked 'Throat and Chest' because he said he had a sore throat.

Utah Teenager Wins Rotten Sneakers Contest

Thirteen-year-old Katharine Tuck from Utah out-ranked six other children to win $2,500 in the 32nd annual National Odor-Eaters Rotten Sneaker Contest.

The seventh-grader claims to have worn her stinky sneakers to play soccer and basketball, for a hike and even says she waded into the Great Salt Lake wearing them, where the brine shrimp made them even worse.
