Some New York Shoppers Discover Recently Purchased Fresh Green Peppers Already Stuffed - With Cocaine

Shoppers were surprised when they cut into their green peppers and found plastic bags of cocaine inside the vegetables bought at a New York City grocery store.

Three separate shoppers reported the drug-stuffed peppers to authorities.

Mingo County W.VA Drug Raid Yields 47 Arrests, Numerous Drugs

A half-foot of snow on the ground meant it was difficult to drive or fly and may have helped ensure that 47 of the 60 suspects were home that law enforcement officials were looking for in a Mingo County, W.VA drug raid, state police said.

Authorities say that during the two-day raid they also seized 137 Alprazolam tablets, 264 Oxycodone tablets, 336 Hydrocodone tablets, 38 MDMA (Ecstacy) tablets, 125 Diazepam tablets, 1.5 grams of crack cocaine, 73.3 grams of cocaine, 1,019 Marijuana Plants, $13,208.00 in cash and three vehicles.

A French cardiologist has claimed that he is no longer an alcoholic because an anti-muscle spasm pill that he had been taking for many years caused him to lose desire to drink liquor.

The claim by Dr. Olivier Ameisen, 55, is contained in his book "Le Dernier Verre" ("The Last Glass") set for release in the U.S. next year under the title "The End of My Addiction."

Prison Drug Counselor Accused Of Smuggling Drugs Into Jailhouse

A prison drug counselor faces felony charges after being caught smuggling heroin and cocaine into the Riker's Island jailhouse.

The Village Voice reported that Juan Delarosa, 56, was initially arrested in January this year after authorities, who had been alerted to his criminal activity, caught him with more than bags of heroin and two bags of cocaine in his jacket pocket. He is now charged with felony and misdemeanor counts of attempted promoting of prison contraband. Upon his initial arrest he was charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.

The U.S. Coast Guard and Navy have discovered and captured another makeshift submarine transporting cocaine in international waters 400 miles off the Mexico-Guatemala border.

Coast Guard officials announced Friday that crews of the Seattle-based U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Midgett boarded the 60-foot semi-submersible vessel Wednesday after it was spotted by a Navy patrol plane and seized at least 200 bales of cocaine wrapped in plastic aboard. The illegal cargo has a street value of $196 million.
