Elderly Woman And Dog Allegedly Torched By Son

An elderly woman and her dog were set ablaze after being doused with gasoline last Friday allegedly by her son.

According to reports on Sunday, the 78-year-old woman survived the ordeal but suffered second and third degree burns covering half of her body. She is in critical condition.

Four people were arrested Friday for attempting to make a citizen's arrest on Karl Rove.

The group of three Catholic workers and a retired Methodist minister and Peace and Justice Advocate were cited for trespassing and released after trying to enter the Wakonda Country Club in Des Moines where Rove was scheduled to speak at a Republican Fundraiser.

Rising Fuel Prices Force Philippine Police Onto Bike Patrols

Officers on patrol at a central Philippines police station have abandoned automobiles to patrol communities on bicycles to save gasoline and avoid rising fuel prices. While on duty, police will ride custom-built bicycles and outfitted with protective gear.

Mayor Ramon Talaga Jr., of Lucena City in central Philippines said the 10 police officers will initially be involved. They will be given bicycles to ride while patrolling the community to watch for crimes.

Road Rage Behavior Linked To Number Of Car Stickers

With soaring gas prices, it is not surprising to hear that incidents of road rage are on the rise. A study by a Colorado State University social psychologist said there is a better predictor of road rage behavior among American motorists.

According to William Szlemko, in his recent study published at the Journal of Applied Social Psychology, the more a driver has bumper stickers, window decals, personalized licensed plates and other territorial markers on his vehicle, the greater is his tendency to get mad when someone cuts into his lane.
