Yankee's Announcer To End Historic Streak Calling Playoff Games
Baseball is a game of glorious records and streaks, like those by Cal Ripken, Joe DiMaggio and the New York Yankees. Yankees public address announcer Bob Sheppard has his own remarkable streak of 121 straight playoff games behind the microphone. Sheppard's streak will unfortunately end when the American League Division Series returns to New York, however, as the 97-year-old is having a bout with bronchial infection.
Modern Museum To Have Pizza Box As An Artifact
In an attempt to collect artifacts that represent life from modern times, the Finnish National Museum and the Helsinki City Museum are keeping a box for a frozen pizza as one of their several new collectibles. The artifacts in the museum would represent life from the 21st century and would include items like the pizza box and an edition of the music magazine Sue.
Texas Mother Uses MySpace To Find Kidnappers To Get Her Son
A Texas mother, who posted a page on MySpace saying "I want my son back", is currently in jail after hiring kidnappers to steal her own son who was staying with his father. According to police, Lisa Gonzales used MySpace.com to find kidnappers willing to take the boy from his father and she allegedly offered $500 to anyone who would do the job well.
Snake Ran Freely Over Reporters' Laptop At A Baseball Game
Reporters covering the Grapefruit League spring training baseball game between the Cleveland Indians and the New York Mets in Winter Haven, Florida had found another news story when a 3-foot black snake came uninvited to watch the game. The black snake stirred panic in the press box as the New York Mets defeated the Cleveland Indians 6-5 on Tuesday. The reptile ran freely across notebooks and laptop computers in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Kissing Couple Causes Fire In Wal-Mart Store
A videotaping on a Wal-Mart store in Palm Coast, Florida shows a couple kissing each other before they spark fire in the sporting goods section that lead the store to close for two hours. According to WKMG-TV in Orlando, Florida, the fire caused a propane tank to explode on Monday, filling the building with smoke. The other customers and employees were forced to evacuate.
