The remains of a woolly mammoth have been discovered on Britain's Queen Elizabeth's Scottish estate Balmoral.

The bones were found by a workman as he made holes for a new fishing loch in the estate's grounds.

Britain's Queen Victoria's stocking have sold at auction for a staggering $16,000. The black and white silk stockings, which bear the royal crest, fetched 40 times their list price when they were bought by David Alcock.

Alcock, a bidder from North Wales, bought the legwear for Nottingham's Ruddington Framework Knitters' Museum - in honor of his late father-in-law Jack Smirfitt, who was a curator at the museum.

Separated, Suffering Baby Whale Euthanized

Australian veterinarians euthanized Friday a baby humpback whale that had been separated from its mother. Its health had deteriorated after being unable to feed on its own.

The 4.5-yard-long whale, dubbed Colin, was guided by wildlife officials close to the shore in north Sydney, raised onto a tarp and pulled into a beach tent, where it was administered a sedative to calm it before being injected with a lethal dose of anesthesia.

The bones in Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd's closets were bared in a genealogy made by Mormons. The two books written by the Church of the Latter Day Saints disclosed that three of Rudd's ancestors were thieves.

The Mormons presented the two volumes to the prime minister Thursday morning, confirming his roots as a "true Aussie pedigree."

The crew of the HMS Iron Duke, the ship Prince William is training on, seized nearly a ton of cocaine Saturday.

The HMS Iron Duke stopped a 50-foot speedboat which the Iron Duke's crew spotted hundreds of miles northeast of Barbados. The sighting raised suspicions because it is unusual to see such a small vessel so far out at sea.
