Nearly 2,000 pounds of marijuana with a street value of $6 million went up in smoke in Hillsborough County, Florida Friday morning, destroyed in a TECO waste-to-energy incinerator at Falkenburg Road.
Miami Ex-con Charged For Filing $15 Trillion Tax Refund
A money-laundering convict from Miami has been charged for filing false claims with the IRS and obstructing the agency's law for seeking $15 trillion in tax refunds. Marlon T. Moore, 38, filed three separate income tax returns seeking tax refunds of $5.95 trillion, $2.97 trillion and $6 trillion after his release from a prison in Florida in 2007. He used fraudulent documents as basis for the claims.

Former President George H.W. Bush will celebrate his 85th birthday on Friday by jumping off a plane, the fourth time the 41st president will have done so since his days as the youngest U.S. Navy pilot in WWII. Bush, father of 43rd president George W. Bush and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, will make a tandem jump with the U.S. Army's Golden Knights parachute team over Kennebunkport in Maine.
Arrest Made In Cat Slayings That Terrorized South Florida Residents
Police in Miami arrested a suspect in a series of cat killings and mutilations that have kept pet owners in two south Florida communities on edge since May. Tyler Weinman, 18, of the town of Cutler Bay, was arrested Sunday morning and charged with 19 counts of animal cruelty, 19 counts of improperly disposing of an animal body and four counts of burglary.
Firefighters Overcome Bees, Electric Fence To Put Out Florida Fire
Fire fighters battling a blaze at a St. Petersburg, Florida home were surprised by a swarm of thousands of Africanized bees. The home fire was further complicated when a downed power line electrified a chain-link fence in the home's back yard. "It's a disaster," Lt. Joel Granata of St. Petersburg Fire Rescue told the Tampa Tribune. "It's a teeny little house."
