Two-Year-Old Calf Eludes Butchers

A 2-year-old calf in the Indian city of Mumbai refused to get slaughtered by running away from the butchery house on New Year's Day.

The calf was rescued by the members of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, when he kept butchers at bay for nearly seven hours.

King Abdullah II Complains About Bad Odors Across Border In Israel

Jordan's King Abdullah II has demanded a closure of an Israeli pen at Kibbutz Eilot, north of Eilat, used to keep cows. He complained of bad odors that are blown over the border by winds last week and hindered his stay in Aqaba.

Following the complaint, Jordanian officials contacted Israel last week and requested the odors be neutralized. The Environment Protection Ministry also ordered the kibbutz to dispose of all pollutant materials on its property.

Students Offered $12 Per Hour To Milk Cows

North Dakota State University's Dairy Barn has offered students to take an active part in the university's dairy farming program by paying them $9 to $12 an hour to milk the cows.

So far eight students have registered in the milking program. They say they have liked the job of playing real-life maids-a-milking.

Two Women Dissolve Friendship Over A Cow

Two elderly women who are the only living souls in the remote Serbian village of Grade have become famous for not speaking to each other and insulting one another in a local newspaper.

In a report by ananova.com, the two women were identified as Ruzica Markovic and Ljubica Paunovic, both from the Grade, the smallest village in Serbia. It was said the two women had a falling out three years ago when one of them insulted the other's cow.

Turkish Airline Workers Sacrifice Camel To Celebrate

A group of workers at Turkish Airlines were so happy to be rid of the last of a batch of troublesome planes that they sacrificed a camel at Istanbul airport. The national flag-carrier admitted on Wednesday that the staff had slaughtered the dromedary and that chief of the sacrifice-organizing group had been suspended pending an investigation.

The incident drew worldwide attention after Turkish newspapers carried pictures of the festooned camel before sacrifices and then the beast chopped up into meat chunks.
