All Lesbian Football Team Established In London
"The Hackney" is the first all-lesbian women's football team in London and possibly the whole of UK. Alfie Ferguson, mentor, Hackney women's football told CNN-IBN, "Football was going through a transitional stage where an environment was needed where lesbians could play where they wouldn't get abused. We will provide the space for them to play and take their football forward."
"Heterosexual Questionnaire" Offends Parents, Students At High School
A high school is in trouble with parents after two teachers distributed a "Heterosexual Questionnaire," which asked students risque questions such as; "If you have never slept with someone of your same gender, then how do you know you wouldn't prefer it?" The teachers asked over 400 hundred students at Port Washington High School to answer and discuss the survey, and now parents say it was nothing less than sexual harassment by teachers against students.
Sex Workers Getting Help With Income-Taxes
An unusual tax workshop is being held at the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center until the mid-April tax filing deadline where prostitutes gain help from the workers on hand to explain things like the earned-income-tax credit. The event was organized by a group called Prostitutes of New York, a support and advocacy group, and by a sex industry magazine called Spread. Prostitutes of New York advocate the legalization of prostitution and meets clandestinely to avoid the police and pimps.
GLAAD Upset With Shalit
The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) has demanded an apology from "Today" critic Gene Shalit, for comments it describes as "defamatory, ignorant and irresponsible." What set off the group's outrage was Shalit's review of Brokeback Mountain that aired on Thursday. In it, he described Jack (Jake Gyllenhaal) as a "sexual predator" who "tracks Ennis (Heath Ledger) down and coaxes him into sporadic trysts." GLAAD charged Shalit Friday with promoting 'defamatory anti-gay prejudice to a national audience.'
Lesbian Motorcyclists Trademark "Dykes On Bikes"
After having their applications denied multiple times, lesbian motorcyclists in San Francisco have won approval to trademark the name "Dykes on Bikes," says a lawyer for the group. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office says the phrase could be seen as insulting to lesbians and had rejected applications by the San Francisco Women's Motorcycle Contingent to trademark "Dykes on Bikes," reports Reuters
