Bride-To-Be Swept Out To Sea Before Suitor Could Propose

A 22-year-old bride-to-be from the Philippines has gone missing along the Oregon coast since after waves swept her out to sea on Saturday before her Oregonian groom could propose marriage near Neskowin Beach.

Rough seas prevented the Coast Guard and Tillamook County Sheriff's office from conducting immediate rescue operation for Leafil Alforque until Monday but her body has yet to be found.

Closing Of Gender Gap Felt Most In Norway

Norway topped the list of 130 nations in the World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap Report 2008. Oslo toppled Sweden, which was number one in 2007 but slipped to third place this year.

Norway got a score of 0.824 out of a perfect score of 1, which indicates the gender gap has been closed. On second spot is Finland which third place last year. Iceland kept its fourth ranking.

Two government scientists from the Philippines have invented a cheaper and healing medical bandage using indigenous mushroom and fiber waste.

The so-called non-woven medical bandage from microfungal fibers of Dr. Claro Santiago Jr. and Rhodora Flores of the Department of Science and Technology's Industrial Technology Development Institute is made from the fibers of the edible mushroom volvariella volvacea, fibrous materials from agro-industrial wastes, alginate or stabilizer and textile fiber.

A married man in the northern Philippines has admitted to the police that he stole nine underwear, a cell phone, charger and contact lenses from a young woman.

Investigators identified the suspect as Philip Datu, a resident of Bengcag village, in Laoag, northern Philippines.
