Man Quits Job To Fight Wife's Deportation
A wealthy Dallas developer quit his influential city job to fight the deportation of his younger Chinese wife, whom he married after leaving his wife of 30 years. Ralph Isenberg, 53, and his wife, Nicole, who turns 41 on Friday, ignored a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement order that she leave the country by August 15 and are fighting it in New York, attorney Ted Cox says.
Thailand Calls On Sea Goddess To Attract Tourists
Thailand is trying attract tourists back to its beaches by calling in a revered Chinese sea goddess to ward off the spirits of thousands who died in last December's tsunami. A statue of Godmother Ruby, known as Mazu in Chinese, will be brought to the Thai island of Phuket from the Chinese coastal province of Fujian next month for ghost-clearing rites, says Suwalai Pinpradab of the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
China to Train First Women Astronauts
The first group of women have been selected to train in China as astronauts. Thirty-five women between 17 and 20 years old will train as pilots at the Chinese military's Aviation University.

A rare, endangered turtle is saved from likely boiling in a Chinese soup pot after wildlife officers and a microchip worked to save it from an ugly fate. Poachers nabbed the animal, belonging to a species known as "royal turtle" in Cambodia; its name inherited from the practice of feeding its eggs to kings, from a Cambodian river two months ago, and smuggled it across Vietnam's border on a motorbike, along with a horde of other common turtles.
