Relocated Black Bear Returns To Florida Origin

A black bear relocated to a southern Florida forest last month has returned 150 miles east to Palm Beach County and was captured by animal authorities for the second time Wednesday.

A wildlife official fired two tranquilizer darts to the bear while it was eating berries from trees at the Palms West Hospital in Wellington. Half a dozen wildlife officials then placed the half-asleep animal into a cage and was identified through an ear tag as the same bear captured in a Weston neighborhood and taken to the Picayune Strand State Forest in Collier County in May.

Pilot Buries Injured Companion In Sand After Chopper Crash

A pilot buried his badly injured companion in sand with his head out so he would not freeze to death after their helicopter crashed in crocodile-infested mudflats in northern Australia Sunday.

Rescuers were surprised to find the injured man buried in the sand up to his neck upon arriving in Dundee Beach, Northern Territory. But an official of CareFlight, the medical rescue helicopter team, said the man may not have survived the cold night had he been exposed and praised the pilot for burying him in sand.

Infant Killed When Someone Rolled On Top Of Her

An infant in Indiana was accidentally killed when someone rolled on top of her while the two people were sleeping.

Fort Wayne Police say 4-month-old Nygria Holley was in bed with an unnamed adult, and that adult fell asleep on top of the child.

Missing PA Woman Found Unharmed In Trunk Of Her Car

A 57-year-old woman is in a hospital after being found in the trunk of her car a day after she was reported missing.

Mary Wilkerson of Dauphin County was found by police in her vehicle Tuesday night suffering from non-life threatening injuries, according to CBS 21. A relative had contacted Susquehanna Township Police on Monday after discovering that she was not home.

Toronto Hospital Uses Nintendo Wii To Help Patients Recover From Knee Replacement Surgery

The St. John's Rehab Hospital in Toronto is conducting an ongoing study on the benefits of using Nintendo's Wii Fit to help patients recover from total knee replacement surgery.

The study started a few weeks back and is expected to end by December 2009. Physiotherapists making the study are testing if adding 15 minutes of playtime using Wii in a rehab program twice of thrice a week will improve the patient's ability to walk and balance and range of motion.
