Researchers from the University of York in England said maggots were able to heal leg ulcers slightly quicker than standard gels.

Specifically, the study concluded that the fly larvae were able to completely heal wounds in an average of 236 days, compared with 245 days for gels used to treat leg ulcers, the London Telegraph reports.

Update: Fertility Doc Puts 'Designer Baby' Offer On Hold

The New York doctor that planned on opening fertility clinics in Manhattan and Los Angeles that would offer prospective parents the ability to choose some of their babies' traits, is limiting the scope of his offer, a New York newspaper is reporting.

The New York Daily News originally reported that Dr. Jeff Steinberg said that within 6 months, he would open clinics that would allow parents to potentially choose genetic traits such as their children's eye, hair, and even skin, color. He said since the story broke and was picked up by other news outlets, he has been flooded with too many calls to let his plans proceed as originally envisioned.

LA, Manhattan Clinics Offering 'Designer Babies'

A doctor who owns fertility clinics in Manhattan and Los Angeles said that within six months, he plans to let potential parents choose many of their babies' features.

Dr. Jeff Steinberg, owner of the LA Fertility Institute, said that traits like eye, hair and even skin color will soon be a matter of his customers' choice. Steinberg was one of the innovators of the test tube baby in the 1970s.
