A Chinese businessman in Qingdao, Shandong Province has been barraged with incessant calls from strangers to his purchased telephone number, 66-666-6666, a number which in Chinese culture should bring good fortune. China Daily report said that a man, surnamed Lui, purchased the phone number from one of his friends last year.
157-Year-Old Bowmore Whisky Auctioned For More than $59,000
A 157-year-old whisky sold for more than $59,200 in Glasgow on Friday, making it possibly the most expensive Scotch ever auctioned in the world. The Bowmore single malt, which was bottled in 1850, was sold at McTear's auctioneers in Scotland for 29,400 pounds to an anonymous telephone bidder, the Agence France-Presse reported.
Man Blames Friends Having Sex In His Car For Accident
A man who struck a telephone pole with his car now blames his two friends who were having sex in the back seat for the accident, police reports say. Carnival worker, Joshua Frank pleaded guilty Tuesday to a misdemeanor charge of failing to notify a police officer of a traffic accident. The 22-year-old, who lives in a trailer parked on the Latah County Fairgrounds, left his Chevrolet S-10 Blazer at the site of the crash in Idaho.
Singapore Police Warn Against New Kidnap Scam
The police in Singapore are advising the public to be very vigilant especially with their loved-ones because there is a new kidnap scam and it is just a phone call away. On Friday, police said several victims were scammed over the telephone. A caller allegedly told the victims that one of their family members had been kidnapped and would be harmed if they didn't pay the ransom money.
British Woman Put On Hold On Telephone Helpline For Eight Hours
A 51-year-old in Britain, who was kept on hold for almost eight hours by a telephone company, finally broke down and started crying out of frustration. Hannah King, whose family was moving from Cardiff to a seafront apartment in Milford Haven, said she had to be prescribed tranquilizers after the incident to calm herself.
