New Year's Day Suicide Pact Kills 2, Leaves Third Injured

Police in Bethlehem, New York found the bodies of two suicide victims and a woman who failed to kill herself with drug overdose on New Year's Day. The fatalities are believed to be a 73-year-old man and his mother-in-law in her 80s. Both died from overdose of different prescription medicines.

The survivor is believed to be the man's 58-year-old wife. They are believed to be have made a pact to commit suicide on Jan. 1 at their house along Stony Brook Drive.

Postcard Reaches Recipient After 64 Years

A Japanese soldier from World War II stationed in Burma (now Myanmar), sent a postcard to his friend was received after 64 years after it was sent. The postcard was kept by a former U.S. soldier and a Japanese exchange student.

According to Mukogawa Women's University, the card traveled in three different countries and one state, including Burma, Nagasaki, Arizona and Hawaii before reaching Shizuo Nagano, 80, in southern Kochi prefecture.

Western Europe's Highest Peak Gets Taller

estern Europe's highest peak Mont Blanc (French for white mountain) is taller than ever as snow piled atop its summit, experts described it as a weather change related occurrence.

The height was found to be 15, 783.79 ft (4,810.90 m) on Sept. 15 and 16 respectively - a 7.05 ft (2.15 m) increase in two years.

Couple Tie Knot While Skiing On The Snow

A Montana couple had a "moving" wedding on Sunday at Big Sky resort, Lone Mountain, where the bridegroom skied and the bride snowboarded while a clergyman wore a camera helmet in the presence of about 30 guests on the slope to watch.

Matt Dodd, a ski instructor, and his guests were on skis as he wore a black ski jacket and pants as his "wedding dress." The bride, Ashley Hegseth, who is a snowboard instructor, wore a white ski suit plus a skirt, including a veil. All her guests were on snowboard.
