Woman Gets Face Transplant At Cleveland Hospital

Reconstructive surgeons at a Cleveland hospital have successfully performed the first partial face transplant in the U.S.

The Cleveland Clinic on Tuesday announced the feat achieved two weeks ago by Dr. Maria Siemionow and her team of surgeons, who replaced 80 percent of an unidentified woman's disfigured face with the face of a dead donor.

Panda Bites College Student Looking For Hug

A 20-year-old college student was bitten by a panda in southern China after he broke into the animal's zoo enclosure hoping to hug the bear.

The student ignored the warning signs and climbed up a 6 foot 5 inch barrier to get into the pen at the Qixing Park Zoo in Guilin, China, according to the state-run Chinese news agency Xinhua.

Chinese Construction Workers Hold Israeli Contractors Hostage Over Back Wages

Hundreds of Chinese laborers are holding 12 Israeli staff members hostage on a resort construction site in Turks and Caicos.

The workers refuse to let the Israelis, from the Ashtroom real estate company, leave the project site in West Caicos until the Chinese manpower agency that hired them pays their back wages and returns the $15,000 each person invested to be able to work on the island.

Toronto University Graduate Students Focus On Sexual Diversity Study

The University of Toronto will begin offering starting fall master's and doctorate programs covering a wide range of sex-related topics from literary to public health.

The university will be the first in Canada to offer graduate courses on the subject. Other Canadian educational institutions like Queen's University, McGill University, Universite du Quebec a Montreal, York University and University of British Columbia already offer undergraduate degree in sexuality studies, but most of their programs focus on issues of sexual orientation.

Chinese Authorities Use Credit Card Of Pro-Tibet Activist To Send Him Home

Chinese authorities deported on Sunday and Monday six Canadian activists and even used the credit card of one of the deportees to buy his plane ticket.

Steve Andersen, 28, and a member of Students for a Free Tibet, arrived in Edmonton Monday evening. Undercover agents arrested, questioned, and deported him and a German-Tibetan woman on Sunday for unfurling a Tibetan flag near Tiananmen Square in Beijing.
