New New Yorker Lost For Five Days
Damon Mootoo heard so many horror stories about New York that he refused to ask for directions when he got lost. The man, who was new to the city, remained lost for five days. Mootoo, 32, was shivering on a sidewalk begging for water when Michael Bharath took notice. He made Mootoo a sandwich and drove him back to his brother's house in South Jamaica, Queens where he was staying.
Secret Santa Hands Out $50 To Passengers On Bus
It was a pleasant surprise for Spokane Transit Authority passengers on several routes Thursday, when an unknown woman boarded several buses, greeted passengers with "Merry Christmas" and handed each an envelope containing a card and a $50 bill before stepping off and repeating the same on another bus. According to the Spokesman-Review newspaper's Friday edition, bus driver Max Clemons said, "She kind of kept her head down. I don't remember ever seeing this lady before."
Puppy Bites Off Baby's Toes
A pit bull puppy reportedly trying to nurse on its owners' one-month-old baby's toes, instead chewed them off. According to the police, the incident happened when the child's parents were allegedly asleep while the baby was in an infant seat beside them. Mary Shannon Hansche, 22, and Christopher Wayne Hansche, 26, told police they woke up to the sound of the baby crying, found her mangled foot and took her to the hospital about 8:30 am. Sunday."They did not see the dog injuring the child," police spokesman Mark Natale told the AP.
Canadian Man Faces Charges After Putting Baby In Freezer
A 21-year-old Canadian man has been charged with criminal negligence and assault after he put his girlfriend's 10-month-old feverish daughter in the freezer to cool off her body temperature. Derrick Hardy, who is pleading guilty to the assault, claims that he was concerned about the infant's fever. Hardy said that when he tried placing a damp cloth and carrying the girl outside into the cool air, but it didn't work, he felt helpless.
Man Charged With Having Relations With Dog
A man has been charged with having sex with the family dog. He will be accused of a felony due to bestiality under the state's new animal cruelty law. Michael Patrick McPhail, 26, pleaded not guilty to the count of first-degree animal cruelty in Pierce County Superior Court.
