A 29-year-old man, suspected to be on drugs, was arrested in the northern Philippines on Tuesday after he reportedly killed a 14-year-old girl and ate her heart and liver. Reports reaching the capital indicate Rommel Jandoc was allegedly high on prohibited drugs and killed Catherine Madriaga. Both the suspect and his victim are from the Pugo, a small village in Bauang, La Union, northern Philippines.
Philippine Farmer Faces 12 Years In Jail For Eating Endangered Eagle
A 22-year-old farmer from the Philippines is facing up to 12 years imprisonment if found guilty of killing and eating an endangered and one of the rarest eagles in the world. Philippine Environment and Natural Resources Lito Atienza said Brian Balaon, has admitted of shooting the three-year-old Philippine eagle, one of the world's largest eagles, that was recently released by wildlife authorities on July 10.

Rising Fuel Prices Force Philippine Police Onto Bike Patrols
Officers on patrol at a central Philippines police station have abandoned automobiles to patrol communities on bicycles to save gasoline and avoid rising fuel prices. While on duty, police will ride custom-built bicycles and outfitted with protective gear. Mayor Ramon Talaga Jr., of Lucena City in central Philippines said the 10 police officers will initially be involved. They will be given bicycles to ride while patrolling the community to watch for crimes.
Phillipines: Total Ban On Cigarette Ads And Sponsorships
Beginning Tuesday, cigarette ads and sponsorships will be banned in the Philippines. The Tobacco Regulation Act of 2003 mandates a total ban on cigarette ads effective July 1, said Dr. Maricar Limpin, president of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control-Alliance Philippines (FCAP).
