Angry Residents Block, Turn Back Car Taking Photos Of Village For Google Online Street Map
Residents of a southern English village have blocked and turned back a car taking photos of their homes for the purpose of showing them in Google's online map Street View. One resident of Broughton in Buckinghamshire, England saw and flagged the black Opel Astra with a rotating camera mounted on its roof and driven by a Google contractor on Wednesday. The villager named Paul Jacobs then called neighbors, who formed a human chain to prevent the car from moving further and taking more pictures.
Thousands Of Protestors Gather In London To Protest G20 Summit
As finance ministers and central bank heads from 19 nations and the European Union, along with U.S. President Barack Obama and other world leaders, meet Wednesday in London for the Group of Twenty (G20) summit, thousands of protestors are gathering to demonstrate over a variety of issues. About 5,500 police officers are also there to keep order and police have reportedly shut the entrances of some subway stations in an effort to control crowds.
Researchers Say Maggots Are Effective In Cleaning Wounds
Researchers from the University of York in England said maggots were able to heal leg ulcers slightly quicker than standard gels. Specifically, the study concluded that the fly larvae were able to completely heal wounds in an average of 236 days, compared with 245 days for gels used to treat leg ulcers, the London Telegraph reports.
Prince Charles Trying To Save A Pub In Wales
Britain's Prince Charles is trying to save village pubs in Wales. The 60-year-old royal is supporting the Pub Is The Hub scheme, a project that encourages small pubs to open their doors to the community. The scheme will be trialed in Denbighshire, North Wales, where suitable pubs will host everything from local post offices and shops to crĨches, arts and craft centers and religious study groups.
