Swedish Newspaper Prints Wrong Photo In Suicide Story

A Swedish newspaper mistakenly published the wrong photo for an article about a suicide incident.

The article, listing the details of the suicide of Broder Daniels guitarist Anders Gothberg, instead published the photograph of former band member Lars Malmros.

Pope Baptizes Outspoken Muslim Journalist Known For Denouncing Islam

Pope Benedict XVI publicly baptized on Monday an Egyptian-born Muslim journalist, known for his renunciation of Islamic beliefs. The traditional Easter vigil service held on Monday at St. Peter's Basilica, marked the beginning of 55-year-old Magdi Allam's life as a Roman Catholic, after he admitted that he has been a non-practicing Muslim all his adult life.

Taking "Christian" for his middle name, Allam, a deputy director for the Italian newspaper, Corriere della Sera, wrote in an article, "I had to do this. Beyond extremists and Islamist terrorism at the global level, the root of evil is inherent in a physiologically violent and historically conflictual Islam."

Japanese Prisoner Commits Suicide With Chopsticks

Chopsticks can indeed be deadly after an inmate at a prison outside of Tokyo, Japan used the eating utensils to commit suicide.

According to prison officials, the inmate stabbed himself in the head with the sharp end of a broken chopstick on the night of February 19. He was rushed in the hospital but died Sunday morning.

New Year's Day Suicide Pact Kills 2, Leaves Third Injured

Police in Bethlehem, New York found the bodies of two suicide victims and a woman who failed to kill herself with drug overdose on New Year's Day. The fatalities are believed to be a 73-year-old man and his mother-in-law in her 80s. Both died from overdose of different prescription medicines.

The survivor is believed to be the man's 58-year-old wife. They are believed to be have made a pact to commit suicide on Jan. 1 at their house along Stony Brook Drive.

Freud Sculpture Mistaken For Hanging Body

A life-sized sculpture of psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud depicted as hanging from a noose alarmed residents of Grand Rapids, who saw it hanging from the top of the Trade Center Building - a scene that very accurately resembled a suicide case.

The sculpture, "Man Hanging Out" created by David Cerny, which showed a life-sized body of a man hanging from a rod by his hand, is currently touring the world and being displayed in a number of cities in Europe and the United States.
