A 28-year-old environmentalist from Machynllet, Powys in England, is planning on traveling some 9,770 miles by land to be a bridesmaid at a wedding in Australia because she does not want to contribute to air pollution by flying.

Barbara Haddrill said the trip would take her six weeks to accomplish at a cost of $3,800.

Malaysia's outspoken former leader Mahathir Mohamad now runs a Japanese-style baker's shop. The 80-year-old politician is chairman and controlling shareholder of a firm operating a business called "The Loaf" serving bread and pastries.

Mahathir owns a 51 percent stake in a company called M&M Consolidated Resources Sdn Bhd. It is investing three million ringgit ($817,000) in the venture and a Japanese partner owns the remaining 49 percent stake.

Singaporean authorities have given a blogger a stern warning but refused to send him to jail for mocking Jesus Christ on the Internet.

Police said Thursday, "After careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case, in consultation with attorney-general's chamber, we have decided to issue a stern warning to the offender in lieu of prosecution."
