Maid Sent to Jail for Cleaning Out Celebrities

A maid who stole from her celebrity clients has been sentenced to as much as three years in prison. A judge in New York told Lucyna Turyk-Wawrynowicz she'd been "cleaning out" the valuables while she was supposed to be cleaning up their homes.

The maid's clients included Candice Bergen and Robert DeNiro. When she pleaded guilty to grand larceny, Turyk-Wawrynowicz admitted stealing diamond earrings from De Niro's wife, which Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Anne Schwartz said were worth $95,500. The lead investigator on the case also said the maid took Bergen's leather jacket and cameras.

Freezing Temperatures Creating Dutch Ozone Hole

Frigid temperatures in Europe and very cold air in the stratosphere has created a mini hole in the ozone layer above the Netherlands.

The Dutch National Weather service says the hole will last a few days, and is a different phenomenon than the large hole over Antarctica, which lasts several months, Expatica News and the Netherlands' national news agency ANP reported Friday.

The only man to have been convicted in Britain of Nazi war crimes has died in Norwich prison, according to a BBC report.

Anthony Sawoniuk, 84, was serving two life sentences after being found guilty of murdering 18 Jews in the UK's first war crimes trial.
